End of the race for Google Play Music: it's not working anymore. Opening the app allows you to receive a screen that says that the service is no longer available and that it has been replaced by YouTube Music. You can transfer your data to the new platform, if you have not yet done so, or download/delete the collection. The announcement was expected: Google had already said months ago that it would close by the end of the year. In the last period we have also seen a large amount of updates on YouTube Music to better prepare it at the time of the passing of the baton: just yesterday we reported important news for Android Auto.
All you have to do now is uninstall the app, right? Well, not really: on some smartphones, such as our OnePlus 6T, it is not possible. Let us imagine, but we are not sure, that measures will be taken later in time. In the meantime, however, it is good to bear in mind that any songs downloaded locally still remain there, to occupy memory unnecessarily; it is therefore appropriate to clear data from system settings (on many smartphones and launchers just press on the app icon for a long time and choose Information Or Details to get to the related page right away). In our case, for example, we have recovered over 2 GB of free space.
