The Antitrust party initiates a Google inquiry for alleged abuse of a dominant position. Google according to the authority responsible for competition and market, would have refused to integrate in the Android car the app "Enel X Recharge", developed by Enel to provide end-users information and services for charging batteries of electric cars. Google, explains the authority in a note, through the Android operating system, holds a dominant position in the market of operating systems for smart devices and would have refused to integrate in the Android car the app "Enel X Recharge", developed by Enel for Provide end-users with information and services for charging electric car batteries.
Android Auto allows Android smartphone owners to easily and safely use some mobile phone apps and functionality when driving a vehicle. Therefore, the exclusion of the app Enel X Recharge from Android Auto reduces the usability of that app by users and limits the possibility of the latter to use the utilities of the app, including the booking of the charging columns. Google's interest would seem to defend and strengthen the business model of its Google Maps app, which offers a wide range of services to end users, including information on location of car charging columns and directions on how to reach them. Google Maps is also a point of access for end users as well as the data flow generated by their activities.
